We actually had the first call with Lee from 96 Degrees at the end of January 2024, a month into our crazy venture! We’ve kept in touch since then and some boss samples landed on Dave’s doorstep recently and we knew the time was now to get 96 Degrees finally on the roster.
So, what’s the story here? 96 Degrees is a cafe in the idyllic market town of Cowbridge in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. We’ve only seen the inside of the shop from a video walk-through but you can tell a lot of love and care has gone into the space.
The team at 96 Degrees are a self-described “Micro Roastery” - what’s the story? Lee says they had a great relationship with another roaster before things started becoming... Well, not so great. So they took things into their own hands, copped themselves a 6KG Giesen, did a crash course in roasting then it’s off to the races. Lee wanted more control over the experience in the cafe and what better way to do that than to be in control of the coffee? In addition, they also use a local dairy producer for their organic, unhomogenised, milk in the cafe!
On a personal level, there’s something so honest and refreshing when talking to Lee. He’s a no-nonsense kinda dude and he’s an open book. Our last 30 min catch up was well over an hour of good ol’ chit chat!
96 Degrees have knocked it out of the park with the coffee we’ve picked for our natural category and we love to try and support businesses where so much love goes into creating the best coffee and in-store experience. Give these guys a go!
And if you’re ever in the Cardiff area, take a short drive out to Cowbridge and have some brunch and a coffee made with love - it looks awesome!
