We thought we’d do a little Q&A type thing, so that you can get to know a little more about us both, here at Team LC. I won’t bore you with a preamble, so let’s get stuck into it 🙌🏼 (part 2)
WHAT’S YOUR GO TO HOME COFFEE?
Espresso, espresso, espresso! Sometimes I’ll shake things up with an iced americano or hot americano but 95% it’s espresso!
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE ORIGIN/PROCESS METHOD?
I like funky naturals and I’m partial to something fruity fruity for espresso.
WHAT DOES YOUR HOME COFFEE SET-UP LOOK LIKE?
I used to have a Rancilio Silvia. She was an unpredictable, fickle beast so now I have a Smeg bean-to-cup machine, a Moccamaster and a dusty Aeropress knocking about somewhere! We are fully on the convenience train 🚂
WHAT’S YOUR GO TO COFFEE SHOP ORDER?
I’m really enjoying Cortados at the moment. I think the milk to coffee ratio is 👌
WHAT’S YOUR COFFEE STRATEGY WHILE ON HOLIDAY?
Still on the convenience train… I’ll either go coffee bags or if there’s a Nespresso machine then I’ll get something that’s more palatable then the bitter, tinny mess you get in hotel rooms 😁
DO YOU HAVE A MOST MEMORABLE COFFEE MOMENT/STORY?
I don’t think there’s one. I remember Dave coming to visit me in Vienna and bringing some natural Ethiopia beans from Method and I was so surprised by the shape and the colour and then obviously the taste. That was the gateway drug… But otherwise, I’ve enjoyed different types of coffee either while travelling or with friends at a coffee shop. It’s all love!
WHAT’S BEEN THE BEST THING ABOUT LC SO FAR FOR YOU?
Dave mentioned the people in his Q&A which I absolutely second but for a more unique answer - I am really proud that we built something different, put it out there and people buy the products we showcase and come back constantly for our recommendations. It’s really satisfying hearing the Shopify CHA CHING when we get an order!
WHAT DO YOU DO FOR WORK OUTSIDE OF LC?
I’ve worked in tech for 10 years but I haven’t had a full-time gig since the summer of last year so I’ve been supporting my wife’s business (https://littlegoose.co.uk) and LC while grinding away (pun intended) with applications!
WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?
I have a young family so my daughter keeps us busy! I love to cook and experiment on my Big Green Egg, we try and spend lots of time outdoors and Dave and I go the the gym together which is nice. Otherwise, I love getting my teeth into a gritty series like Bosch or Ozark. Right now I’m re-watching Succession!
DO YOU HAVE ANY FUN FACTS?
It’s no secret that Dave is the chief taster of the two of us. I have congenital anosmia AKA no sense of smell. Honestly, it’s a real bummer as it affects taste but I trust Dave to taste for both of us and I enjoy the nitty-gritty of Shopify, solving problems and making sure everything runs smoothly - so it’s ok!
